Thai Massage I: Basics (A) - Lower Body

This is the first 16 hours of Thai Massage I: Basics (40 Hrs), specifically Days 1‑2 of the 5‑Full Day Intensive, or Days 1‑4 of the 10 Half‑Day format.

This 16-hour option is available for students to start the full 40-hour basics course in a segmented (or partial) format, to spread out the cost or time commitment, and/or to get continuing education credit as needed.

This segment covers only the beginning lower body portion of the traditional Thai learning routine, which includes just the feet and legs, with the client lying on their back. The hips and lower back also benefit from certain stretches during this portion, such as spinal twisting.

Students will be introduced to Thai healing philosophy, and will learn the basics to warm up, massage, and stretch the feet and legs. This includes how to find the six Thai energy meridian segments (called "Sen lines") on the legs, with step-by-step footwork and other choreography to transition from one pose to the next, and the necessary body mechanics to safely perform such bodywork for both client and practitioner.

See the listing for Thai Massage I: Basics for details on the whole course.

Internships are considered an invaluable opportunity and part of the learning process, as it allows students to see, hear and experience foundational instruction repeatedly to hone their understanding. Ideally, in time this small school, like others, will grow large enough to have a daily clinic of supervised intern students, who perform and observe massage treatments as part of their long-term training!
